St Piran’s Day is 5 March, the national day for Cornwall.

There are celebrations throughout the county and a processional play is enacted across the dunes to St Piran’s Oratory (shown right) and onto the nearby ruins of St Piran’s Church on Penhale Dunes.

The Oratory is said to have been built in the sixth century and there are regular pilgramages to the site. It is now covered for protection.
