The Pendennis Cup is held every 2 years in Falmouth waters and organised by the world reknown luxury yacht builder Pendennis shipyard.

In 2012 the event is scheduled between the 2 and 7 July with daily racing taking part from the 3rd to the 6th starting at 11:30 with boats expected to be back on the pontoons in Pendennis Marina by 15:00.

The 13 yachts taking part, ranging in size from the 61.2metre Athos to the 12.5 metre Mikado, will be divided into 3 classes.

Sailing will take place within the inshore waters of Falmouth Bay from Gull Rock, north of the Roseland Peninsular to the Manacles on the Lizard Peninsular to the south.

The racing will be organised by the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club and, subject to weather conditions, the start and finishing line for all races will be at the mouth of the Fal Estuary between St Anthony’s Lighthouse and Pendennis Point.

Visitors coming to Falmouth to spectate will find Pendennis Point an excellent place from which to watch the start and finish of the race. When moored up the yachts can be seen from the viewing galleries at Events Square overlooking Pendennis Marina.
