Select either a high tide early in the morning before the visitors arrive or in the evening after they’ve gone. This is when mackerel shoals may come very close in to this sandy beach, well within casting range, to feed on sandeels and whitebait.

A period of calm settled weather and clear water are the best conditions. There are marker bouys set in the bay for watersports so these need to be avoided when casting.

During the day the rocky headlands away from the beach provide the best chance to reach mackerel further out in deeper water.
