Visitors to Falmouth may be lucky and see pods of either Bottlenose or Common Dolphin breaching the waters in Falmouth Bay or even in the Carrick Roads, the deep water channel in the Fal estuary.

Although dolphins are often seen in these waters and may appear at any time of the year, their movements are unpredictable.

There is also the chance of seeing many other species, either from the shore or getting a close encounter from boats, including Risso’s Dolphin, Harbour Porpoise, Basking Shark and, if you are really lucky, even a whale!

A wildlife guide to help visitors to Falmouth get even more from their stay will appear shortly on InCornwall.info
