This extensive sandy beach has some of the best surf on the south coast of Cornwall. Being located so far west and southerly facing, the waters feel the force of an Atlantic swell and regularly put up a good wave which, if subjected to a good northerly wind, can produve excellent surfing at a time when the nearby north coast is not at its best.

Surfers are requested to pay attention to the safety guidance on the beach as well as the Surfers Code of Conduct.

Surfing equipment can be bought or hired on the beach and a surf school is available.
