Porthkidney beach is a large expanse of sand on the north coast of Cornwall at the mouth of the Hayle estuary. It lies between Hayle and St Ives, neighbouring Carbis Bay beach.

The St Ives branch line runs along the back of the beach with stations at nearby Lelant and Carbis Bay.

The South West Coast Path and St Michaels Way also run along the back of the beach with spectacular views towards S Ives to the north-west and all around St Ives Bay to Godrevy lighthouse in the norht-east.

Porthkidney beach can be reached by walking from Lelant Church where there is some car parking, crossing the golf course and the branch line and down some steps to the edge of the Hayle estuary.

There is a seasonal lifeguard service but beware of strong currents particularly in the river.

Porthkidney beach is a dog friendly beach all year.

The grid reference is SW549379 and the post code for satnav purposes is TR26 3DY
