This popular, small, sheltered, east-facing beach is a mixture of sand and shingle located approximately 2 miles from Falmouth town centre. A wonderful family beach, ideal for swimming and other watersports.
The beach is cleaned daily in season.
Lifeguards: none.
Dogs: banned from Easter Day to 1 October
Parking: behind the beach, it is free off season
Refreshments: Lifes a Beach cafe open all year
Toilets: yes
Other: a range of watersports equipment is available for hire
Wheelchair access: over unmade but fairly even surface from car park immediately behind the beach
Watersports: excellent for swimming and wartersports including body boarding, snorkelling, diving and kayaking.
Fishing: daytime fishing is restricted from the beach in summer by other watersports activities. However, bass, pollock, wrasse and mackerel can be caught from rocky promintories nearby.
Walking: South West Coast Path north to Swanpool beach, Falmouth (2 miles) and south round Rosemullion Head to the Helford River.
Birdwatching: seabirds such as sandwich terns and gannets can often be seen from the beach in Falmouth Bay. Cormorants and shags will often venture in close to the beach diving for food.
Maenporth has a wide choice of holiday accommodation including self-catering and guesthouses within walking distance of the beach. There is a wide selection of hotels, self-catering accommodation, bed and breakfasts, cottages, hostels, caravan and camping sites all within a few minutes drive.
