This huge expanse of sandy beach extending almost 3 miles from Penzance to Marazion, taking in the beaches at Eastern Green and Long Rock, has much to offer all the family. At low water you can walk across a causeway at Marazion to St Michael’s Mount, with its medieval castle and tropical gardens. It’s one of Cornwalls premiere tourist attractions. The beaches are popular with families and the vast open waters of Mount’s Bay provide some of the best conditions for a range of watersports such as kite-surfing, surfing and kayaking. Facilities close to the beach include cafes, watersport equipment hire, toilets and car parks. Directly behind the beach on the northern side of the road is the marshy reedbeds of the RSPB Marazion Marsh Nature Reserve where many resident birds, and sometimes rare migrant species, can be seen.
